What is a cheaper alternative to buying PRS custom 24 guitars?
wrm10290 asked:
I'm looking to get the same tone of a PRS custom 24 such as the one Pete from Chevelle uses, I don't have near the money to buy one, any suggestions?

How about a cheap import strat?
Bottom line:
Buy cheap - get cheap.
Pay more - get more.

Great music choice… chevelle \m/
You’re going to want something with a lot of punch in it. I feel that a lot of the style you’re looking for is going to be in the sting-action.
Go to a big shop that specilizes on guitars, and play around. That is really the only way you’re going to find what you want.
Keep in mind, however, that you need to accound for the sting action, the type of pick-ups it has, and the diffrent pedles and other effects that are used.
With those taken into consideration, anything can sound like the custom.

To get the Humbucker sound, buy an Epiphone SG model. You can upgrade your pickups to get close to the PRS sound. I changed the Humbuckers on one of my Les Pauls to get close to the PRS sound. My other is set up with Alnico II’s to emulate Slash’s sound.
