Electric Guitars?

Kamaria asked:

I really want to learn how to play the electric guitar, its an awesome instrument. I've never played before and I don't know exactly what to look for in a good quality guitar thats not really expensive.  I dont have a lot of money I could spend on it, so does anybody know where there's a good shop in Florida where I can buy one? And any pointers and tips on anything about the guitar would be extremely welcomed!!!! thx :) I need all the help i can get on starting up.

go to a Guitar Center and pickup one of the starter packages (i.e. the Fender Squire Bullet bundle which includes a practice amp and cord)…then get an Easy Guitar book by an artist you like AND start lessons…you can always purchase a nicer guitar and amp, but this will get you going…

I’ve seen Fender Starcasters in Costco for about $200. Even comes with a little practice amp that doesnt sound half bad for the money.

    Good luck Darling

PS- you may want to start on an acoustic. It will build your finger strength. You’ll find playing electric after that nearly effortless.

Sorry I don’t live in florida and can’t tell you where you can buy a guitar down there. But I can suggest you start off with an Ibanez. It’s a japanese made guitar. My Favorite guitarist John Petrucci rocks the Ibanez. Their generally not too expensive and their awesome for beginners. But you should go talk to an expert. Go to a music store and try some on!

Check out these famous guitarists, maybe you will get some inspiration!
    Yngwie Malmsteen
    Eric Johnson
    John Petrucci
    Kirk Hammett
    Steve Vai
    Joe satriani

I just recently got a pretty good deal on a Gibson SG faded. I paid like $675 for what is basically a $1200 plus guitar. Its sounds really good. I got it at guitar center

(it was cheaper cause it was the faded model its the same guitar as the standard just doesnt have the laquer coating and some of the inlay a standard would)

If your looking for a really good guitar thats not too expensive then your two best choices are a Epiphone Les Paul or a Squire Telecaster. Both are around pretty cheap and good sounding. For the best prices I would go to a Guitar Center or Musicians Friends. What you may want to do is buy an acoustic guitar and learn the basic like all the chords and chord styles like power chords and bar chords, and work on chord procession. Then you can go out and buy an electric and work on bends, vibratos, and finger picking.

i went through the same thing.

if youre short on money, be honest,
talk to the salesperson, tell them you dont know much about guitars,
and that you dont have a very big budget.
people in music shops are usually happy to help out an aspiring musician.

Since you don’t have lot of cash to work with….
    You’ve got a few options here….

    1. Ebay for USED guitars

    2. The good guitar names that wont break your budget : Ibanez, Dean, Fender, Epiphone,

    3. Any Yard Sale in your town too. They DO have guitars once in a while…you just have to really shop around and hunt one down, thats all.

    4. Any second hand thrift store in your town too like a Salvation Army store or a Goodwill store. I was there the other day and they had a really cool used Bass guitar for sale. Once in a while; they also get used drum kits in too….you just have to ask the Sales people when they get those used guitars and drums, thats all.

    5. and go to the Electric guitars section for USED guitars.

    Good luck
