About
So...who am I and why am I providing the Purple Walrus Guitar Blog?
My name is John and my moniker is the Purple Walrus. I'm in my fifties (ouch!) and I live in a Philadelphia suburb that, to my dismay, is growing rapidly. I'm happily married with a bunch of animals in our house, including a dog, two domestic house cats and several other stray and feral cats that have adapted (to varying degrees) to living in 'society'.
I've been interested in guitars since my college days and I've bought and sold more than a few over the years. This includes both acoustic and electric guitars and the associated amps and effects. I've bought these (new and used) at the music stores (the superstores and the mom and pop shops), some of the online retailers and eBay. I've even built a couple of guitars and amps.
It is through these buying and selling experiences and my objective and analytical approach to most things in life that I am basing this site's articles. These are strictly my opinions, but these opinions are based on my experience and learning process. I hope that you find them informative and I wish you luck in your upcoming guitar purchase.
